Looks really good. I've been waiting since you started this thread to see it done. How's it working?

Re: '80 CB650 Bobber project

You're right about the stock location of the rectifier. Yours should be fine. I made a new batt box for mine that had the battery sideways under the seat & attached everything to that. I had the rr on the side of it with no problems. Still had side covers. The bike looks killer man.

Re: 1980 bobber project

That thing looks good man. I can see the forks are pushed up the trees, but I'm guessing you have it pulled down tight too. For a speedo, if you're looking for something small, they're out there. I got one from dime city cycles. Just have to get the right ration. I forget now. Good luck with it.

Re: Right Blinker works, Left... not so much

I had a problem with the stock lights & gauges. Turns out they both ground thru the stalks, front & rear. The front uses that nuts inside the headlight, that have ground wires attached. Plus I had bad contacts in the switch & a bad flasher. Yea, it took a while to figure all out! I then ...

Re: Painting engine

Paint it with the jugs & head on. This way all the bolts get painted as well, plus any part of the gaskets that are showing will get it too & blend in. You'll have less scratches from not having to put it back together once painted.

Re: '80 CB650 Bobber project

That sucks, but as you said, it happens. Got a nice set up though. You're right with the front end hanging off the roof, it takes quite a bit of weight off the bike & changes the balance. You'll get it. I played with mine most of the summer & only got to ride it a little. Then I sold it. Got...

Re: Newly finished Cafe Racer

Looks good. Form over function! The POR15 is great stuff. Hard as a rock. I used it on mine plus the UV covering. You can find a starter kit on ebay pretty reasonable. I got a bottle of cleaner, bottle of rust remover, base coat, & uv coat for $50. Have fun with it

Re: Installing new Speedo and Tach... help?

I only had the speedo. I cut the connector & wires off the old speedo & soldered them to the new speedo.

Re: Installing new Speedo and Tach... help?

I have the white face tach with idiot lights on mine. It came with instructions as per what the wire colors were on the tach. I cut the factory harness, off the factory gauges, & spliced them in. The only problem is that the factory uses 2 indicators for the signals & the new gauge uses 1. I...

Re: center stand hitting chain

The stock exhaust acts as the stop for the stand. Sounds like you'll have to make a bracket for a stop. Maybe clamp it around the bottom frame tube
