Knoxville, TN. Bought in Lenoir City. Liked the ride and sound. Brought it home and went over it.

-pulled apart brakes, cleaned and regreased pads, calipers, slides, pins.

-rear brake pedal was hanging up as switch lever was a little bent- gave it a "cold adjustment"

-pulled "bobber" wiring in rear fender apart and did it properly with solder and heat shrink

-replaced rear bulb with LED

-ordered shocks as my fat self was causing the fender to hit the rear tire

Looks nice. Why are the headers not equally discolored?

Pods and not even 650 carbs. They look like old 750 ones.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!

Thanks. I dunno bout the headers. Not familiar with bikes; I'm a European car mechanic. I also don't really care- plug read was perfect when I pulled them. Yes the pod? filters worry me a bit. I just callem open element, never heard the expression pod. They worry me because of water intrusion. Otherwise, the bike must be put together right, ie jets and such, because open exhaust and air = lean, yet the plugs are a beaut.

Welcome here! :D

Interesting build with cb750(?) carbs. The header colors are a hint that it does (or did) not run equally on all four (and to a PO with greasy fingers  ).

The old sohc4 750 had the same spacing carbs as the 79/80 carbs. The 750 had many more versions though. Those look like early ones.

Ok I'll bite. If it isn't "running on all four equally", what do y'all mean by that? That it isn't burning cleanly on all cylinders? That it is missing? That the carbs are uneven? As a car mechanic that phrase is vague (no offense intended).

The colors indicate that all except #4 went really hot for more than just a few minutes.
This could mean #4 did not run then or the others did run too lean or whatever.
As the colors are conserved and these ar not the stock carbs it is not clear if it is related to the present state of the bike or to something years ago.

Nevertheless worth a look, so feel if headers seem equally hot and if plugs still look healthy and equal directly after a trip at some load.

So in a way, the bike can be thought of as a nitro rc car. Wait that sounds dumb. Ok. Well what I mean is, it's aircooled, so we can use a sizzle test and heat of headers to tell rich and lean, as well as the tried and true plug chop.

So I looked today and all the headers are equal colors. Hmm... I do see the one in the original pic but now they are all like that.
