Around new years, I got a CB750C to rebuild. Here are a few pictures to show my progress so far.

Nice work! Just out of curiosity, are most of the repairs similar to the 650 from the same time period? I like the exhaust--what kind are they? There's an 82 CB750 for sale at Willie's Cycle that I might try to get, doesn't run but looks in good shape.

How's the performance compared to the 650?

Would appreciate any final pics you've got too. Thx.

Good work, was wondering about the dohc engine, the only thing i don't like is shim discs for valve adjustment. Forks and wheels and triple trees interchange? Like that red.

I am finding a lot of similarities with all the early 80's Honda CB bikes. This particular bike keeps revealing new problems. I've never thought I was so close to being finished with one, yet been so far away. I'm still trying to evaluate if an oil leak I have is coming from the countercrank seal. I'm hoping it is not, as this will require me to split the case to replace it. Not looking forward to that. :(

Wow nice finish! What do you use to clean the engine & parts? My engine is quite dirty due to an oil leak (which I'm hoping isn't in crankcase either) I need a clean new look finish like yours!

This bike engine was painted with high temp paint. If you've seen my other thread on the CB900C I just did, I used soda blasting to clean it up.

So let me tell you what happened with this bike. Back in July of 2014, I sold it to a guy. He rode it for about a year and put several thousand miles on it before the engine locked up on him. He took it to a local shop who quoted him $1800 to fix it. This was more than he was willing to pay, so he decided to junk it. I ended up getting it back from him. I got it home, pulled the engine, and found this:

It slung a rod. The engine case was ruined, as well as the crank and at least one sleeve of the cylinder. I had another CB750C engine laying around in which the cam tensioners came apart. This destroyed parts of that engine, so I thought I'd see if I could get one working engine out of the parts of both. I took the destroyed sleeve and banged it out of the cylinder:

Then added one from the other engine. Perfect fit:

Then I took the crank, transmission, and one piston from the cam tensioner engine, and put it together with the cylinder, head, and cylinder head cover from the original engine and made one engine:

I put it back in the frame and fired it up! Good as new!

Rather than paint it, I buffed up all the parts to make them nice and shiny:

I have a guy who does seats for me, but he lives about 4 hours away. I put it on Craigslist for sale to see what Kind of interest I would get. If I did not get enough interest, I was going to take the seat to my friend to have it redone. It sold the following day.

I came across this post again. What high temp paint did you use?

Duplicolor rattle-can engine paint. I was not happy with the results, which is why soda blasted and buffed it when i re-did it.
